Park Day at Historic Salubria
Join Historic Salubria as they participate in the American Battlefield Trust’s 29th annual Park Day event!
Historic Salubria will have volunteers come out to help repair split-rail fences, cleaning up the cemetery, and tidying up the inside and outside of the house.
Volunteers will also receive a free, behind-the-scenes tour of Salubria as a thank you. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring any tools they have to help out with the tasks, including gloves and protective gear.
In the event of inclement weather, Park Day will be held on Mary 3rd.

Park Day at the Nine Mile Tract
Join the Central Virginia Battlefield Trust as they participate in the American Battlefield Trust’s annual Park Day!
Volunteers will help clear brush for parking and on the interpretive trail.

Join the Manassas Battlefield team for a cleanup of the battlefield!
Volunteers will participate in trash pickup, fence line clearing, and tree planting.
Germanna Ford History Hike
Lace up your hiking boots and join Education Manager Shannon Doherty for a moderate hike through the history of Germanna Ford and its environs. Registration required.

Birding Walk at Roundabout Meadows
PEC Wildlife and Habitat Restoration Coordinator, October Greenfield, will take participants on a 1.3 mile walk over rolling pastures and meadows to find native Virginian birds.
Possible bird sightings include eastern meadowlarks, field sparrows, and a variety of other grassland and shrubland species.
Due to the terrain, birders are advised to wear appropriate footwear and clothing, and also bring their own binoculars.

Volunteer Open House: Cedar Mountain Battlefield
Cedar Mountain Battlefield Foundation will be hosting an open house to showcase our visitor center and recruit volunteers to support their staff.
Come check out their newest educational displays and tour both their facilities and their beautifully preserved battlefield!
They’re hoping to recruit an army of volunteers to fill their ranks to keep their park beautiful and educate the public on the history of Culpeper’s largest battle!
Mother's Day at Mountain Run Winery
Honor your beloved mother with a relaxing day at the Mountain Run Winery, featuring live music, wine, and food.
The winery is open 12:00 to 7:00, and the pastoral landscape is the perfect place for socializing, family picnics, and relaxing. It also as a playground and plenty of space for kids to run wild.
Pepper’s On the Go will provide food, and live music from Mercy Creek will play from 1:00 to 4:00.

Adult and Kids Easter Egg Hunts at Mountain Run Winery
Save the date for the adults and kids Easter egg hunt!
Egg hunts for kids are $7 and for adults, egg hunts are $16. Adults will have adult themed prizes, such as gift certificates to the winery. If there are spaces available the day of, prices will be $10 for kids and $20 for adults.

Easter Extravaganza
Enjoy the beautiful spring weather at Smith Mountain Lake with the Easter Bunny!
Bring your own basket and head to the Discovery Center for an Easter egg hunt. There will be over 1,700 eggs to find. If you find the golden eggs, be sure to hand them to a ranger for a special prize.
In addition to the Easter egg hunt, there will be crafts, hay wagon rides, and more!

Culpeperpalooza 2025
For two days, Culpeperpalooza will have attendees listen to a variety of live music and enjoy a variety of food and drinks.
This year, proceeds will go towards SAFE, which is a nonprofit organization that provides Services to Abused Families. In the past, Culpeper raised over $36,000 to support the local music education and community programming.

22nd Annual Bluebell Walk
Mike Stevens was a development economist who bought Bonny Brook Farm with his wife in 1992. He was born in England, lived in Africa and the Far East, before finally settling in America in 1985. The restoration of Bonny Brook became his passion, and efforts from the PEC and other organizations will be done to preserve Bonny Brook in his honor.
To commemorate Mike after his passing in February, the PEC will allow people to take a one mile walk through the flowers, rain or shine. Outdoor clothing and boots are recommended, and pets are not allowed.

Guided Tour of Cedar Mountain
Join an experienced Cedar Mountain battlefield tour guide for a walk on the battlefield. Learn about the chronology of the battle, hear the stories of soldiers and civilians who were impacted by this battle, and visit the landmarks on the battlefield.
The tour starts at the visitors’ center and goes for about 45 minutes. Due to the nature of the terrain, tourists are advised to wear walking shoes, bring bug spray, and bottled water.

Revolutionary Culpeper
Join the Culpeper Museum for a two-hour walking tour through Culpeper, and learn about the role the town played in the Revolutionary War.
Tourists will learn about the people, places, and events that were shaped by Culpeper’s patriots, and how those activities were put into the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and other founding documents.
Museum staff members and volunteers will tell the tales of the Culpeper Minute Men, religious liberty, and the western expansion on the walking tour of downtown Culpeper.
Those who plan to attend should wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water, and dress/prepare for the weather. Tours will be held rain or shine, unless otherwise advertised.

Brandy Station Foundation Annual Meeting and Dinner
Join the Brandy Station Foundation for an evening with the American Battlefield Trust’s own Daniel Davis.
Enjoy some delicious food while Daniel provides you with facts about the Battle of Brandy Station, which was fought in June 1863.
The dinner will be held at the Culpeper Country Club, which is located at 2100 Country Club Road.
Tickets need to be purchased in advance, as seating is limited to 50 people. Tickets can be purchased here.
Easter Egg Float
Enjoy your Friday evening by floating around the pool and collecting Easter eggs! Afterwards, pick up a goodie bag in the cafe, and be sure to meet and take a picture with the Easter Bunny.

160th Anniversary of Surrender and Freedom Day
The Appomattox Court House National Historical Park will commemorate the 160th anniversary of the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia to the Army of the Potomac on April 9th, 1865.
There will be special programs and activities from April 8-13, which includes guided walks and talks, living history programs and demonstrations, family activities, firing demonstrations, and more!

160th Anniversary Battle Walk: High Bridge and Farmville in the Final Days of the Civil War
On this special commemorative walk, participants will follow the paths of Confederate and Union forces, discover the strategic importance of High Bridge, and hear compelling stories of bravery and sacrifice that unfolded in the historic region.
The program is free but a standard $5 per vehicle. Parking is located at Camp Paradise. Walking shoes and water are highly recommended.

Annual Relic Hunt at Liberty Hall
Liberty Hall is hosting their annual seeded and natural relic hunt, and there are thousands of dollars-worth of relics on the property, plus the opportunity to hunt for natural relics.
During the Civil War, the plantation was occupied by both the CSA and the USA, and there are two Confederate canon emplacements on the property, as well as a large US camp presence.

Park Day at Bristoe Station Battlefield Heritage Park
Join the Bristoe Station team for a cleanup of the park! Volunteers will participate in the tearing down and restacking of historic fences, pick up trash, mulch trails, cleaning signs, and removing brush.

The Quest for Virginia Legends
Join the Museum of Culpeper History for a weeklong Quest for Virginia Legends, starting this Saturday and ending on March 22nd.
Starting at 2:00, people can hear the tales of Virginians such as Peter Francisco and Grace Sherwood, and how they became famous legends in the Old Dominion State.
Help the team find the tools they need to complete their mission all week, and then create your own legendary figure!

Walking tour of the Kelly's Ford Battlefield
Join the Museum of Culpeper History as they guide you on a walking tour of the Kelly’s Ford Battlefield.
The Battle of Kelly’s Ford was fought on March 17, 1863. Despite this battle being overshadowed by Brandy Station in June, this battle was part of the buildup to the much larger battle up in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

John Mercer Langston Hughes Exhibit
Hughes was born in February 1901 and has become one of the most prolific writers in American history. He is famous for his “Let America Be America Again”, and that is the foundation of the exhibit.

The Many Layers of Indigenous Presence at Historic Germanna
Victoria Ferguson, Dr. Carole Nash, Catherine Hill, Dr. Eric Larsen, and Jennifer Hurst-Wender will provide attendees with an hour-long panel discussion about the indigenous presence in Germanna and how the area was a crossroads between the Native Americans and the Colonists for over three centuries.

Winter Lecture; Bringing Back Virginia's Grassland Birds
Join the PEC Wildlife Habitat Restoration Coordinator, October Greenfield, to learn more about the decline of the grassland birds in Virginia, and the hard work of the Virginia Grassland Bird Initiative.

A Preservation Fundraiser
Join Historic Germanna for an evening of music, history, and food.
The fundraiser is to help provide funds for the restoration and preservation of Hebron Lutheran Church, which is one of four remaining wooden churches from colonial Virginia.
Tickets are $100 per person, which includes a tour of the church, a behind the scenes of the preservation efforts, a German music concert, dinner, and transportation.

Patriots of Color
At the State Theater, Charles Jameson will talk about the Patriots of Color and their service in the Revolutionary War.
The Culpeper Minuteman Chapter will recognize both Native Americans and African Americans who served in the Revolutionary War as we approach the 250th anniversary of America. 20 known Patriots of Color were Culpeper residents, and they will also be talked about.


Robert E Lee's Birthday Lecture
Uncover more about the “Gray Fox” and how he became well-known in history. From childhood to death, trials to tribulation, guests will learn everything about General Robert E. Lee.

Winter Bird Wander
Join a ranger for a bird watching hike. Binoculars will be provided, or you can bring your own. Wear appropriate clothing and shoes.

Beginners Birding on the Battlefield
Enjoy a one hour and one mile walk at Petersburg National Battlefield, where you can learn more about the Christmas Bird Count, and how to use binoculars.


Civil War Photography Lecture
19th century Civil War photographer Greg Farley will take you on a trip back to the 1860s to learn how Civil War photographers captured that bring to light how gruesome and brutal war was.
The event is held at the museum and is $5 per person and museum members are free. There is limited space, so buy tickets now or pay at the door.

Turtle Time
Join rangers for a lesson on the habitat and animals in Lake Anna State Park, and participate in a feeding of the animals during the lesson.
